Motherhood is the perfect reason to have gorgeous photographs taken to document and celebrate YOU and this incredible journey. A small selection of maternity gowns and headpieces are available for use during your session, please contact the studio for more details.

Maternity sessions are best booked for when you are around 28-32 weeks pregnant (around the 7 month mark). During this stage in your pregnancy you will have a nice round baby bump and will have more mobility compared to your last couple months of pregnancy. The studio typically books portrait sessions up to 8 weeks in advance so the sooner you get in touch, the sooner we can ensure we can get you booked in for that prime 28-32 week time in your pregnancy. A maternity session can be booked in studio or it can be booked outdoors at your favourite location.

Partners and siblings are always welcome to attend!

Maternity Creative Fee - $400(+gst)

• includes a pre-session styling consultation

• use of any of the maternity gowns/headpieces in my client closet

• my time and talent to photograph your maternity session (in studio or outdoors)

• a series of naturally posed images will be photographed alone, with your partner and/or your other children

• an in-person studio viewing and ordering appointment

• includes one image of choice from your session

• image selcted will come as an 8x10 mounted print + the digital image copy

Your entire newborn portrait experience in my studio will be made easy. The studio is stocked with all that you will need for your newborn photo session and I am available to answer any questions you may have from the moment we first connect to the final delivery of your ordered images.

Natural Posing.

My classic and timeless style will ensure your newborn photos are treasured for multiple generations to come. Naturally posed, timeless newborn photography with minimal props to help keep the focus on your brand new baby.

Newborn photography sessions are best booked for when your newborn baby is between 6-21 days old. At this stage, newborns are still very flexible, curled up and spend most of their time sleeping. I recommend booking your newborn session as soon as you know your due date! If your baby arrives early, we will adjust your session date to ensure your newborn session takes place when it is safe to do so.

I have been photographing newborns and their families for over 13 years and I strongly believe that newborn sessions should be baby-led which means a newborn baby will never be put into a pose or position that could be harmful to the baby. The images I like to capture are created through natural posing only and I have received many hours of hands on training from some of the best newborn photographers in the industry. I am also actively involved in the professional newborn photography community and I am an active member with both the National Association of Professional Child Photographers and the Professional Photographers of Canada.

Image Pricing

You only purchase the images you love most!

All of my portrait photography sessions are customized to each individual family that I photograph, as each family has unique photography needs. Some families are looking to have a couple images from their maternity and newborn photography session turned into beautiful wall art. Other families would prefer a collection of their favourite session images to be printed in an heirloom album and to share images online with family and friends. And some families want multiple wall art pieces, mounted prints to gift to the grandparents and the digital files to match.

I like for families to have an opportunity to preview the best images from their session before having to make any final decisions on exactly how many images they would like to purchase. This allows each family the opportunity to select exactly the right combination of images and products based on their specific photography needs. You only purchase the images you love most, with the products that work best for you!

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO MY NEWBORN Photography SESSION?

A trip to have newborn photos taken is most likely the first time you will venture out with your brand new baby. I try to make that as easy as possible for you. You will be sent a Newborn Session Preparation Guide that will outline any additional items to bring so you can plan ahead and be prepared. We will discuss all of these details prior to your baby arriving during your styling consultation so that on the day of the newborn session, you can just show up, sit back, relax and enjoy the session. If there is something special you’d like to incorporate into the photo session, just let me know and I will do my best to add it into the session.

WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT ONCE WE ARRIVE AT your STUDIO?

When you arrive, you will have the opportunity to just sit back and relax! The studio is a warm and comfortable space stocked with all that you could need to enjoy your newborn session. We will have decided on all your background and fabric selections ahead of time and I will review this once more with you before I get started. I will then have you undress baby to their diaper and have you feed them upon arrival, allowing your newborn to get comfortable in their new environment. This also helps to fill their belly so they fully fed and ready to fall back asleep. I also like provide lots of time throughout the session for feeding, snuggling and to create a warm, loving and relaxed environment for your baby.

HOW MUCH EXPERIENCE DO YOU HAVE WORKING WITH NEWBORN BABIES?

I have been photographing newborns and their families for over 14 years and I strongly believe that newborn sessions should be baby-led which means a newborn baby will never be put into a pose that could be harmful to the baby. The images I like to capture are created through natural posing only and I have received many hours of hands on training from some of the best newborn photographers in the industry. I am also actively involved in the professional newborn photography community. I am an active member and Alberta Ambassador with the National Association of Professional Child Photographers and an Accredited Photographer with the Professional Photographers of Canada.

DO YOU TAKE NEWBORN IMAGES WITH FAMILY MEMBERS?

My newborn sessions do include images of your brand new baby with immediate family members. Depending on the age of their sibling(s), I will attempt to photograph these images first as younger siblings can be very unpredictable with their temperament. With slightly older newborns we will focus on their individual photos first. I also recommend that younger siblings only stay in the studio for a portion of the photo shoot and not the entire session. Grandparents are welcome to attend as well but we do recommend that they come either at the beginning or towards the end of the photo session.

How Long is a newborn photo session?

My newborn photography sessions will run for up to 3 hours and is dependant on how baby is feeling on the day of the session. I like to allow time for you all to get settled when you first arrive, time for snuggles with mom and dad during the session as well as time to feed baby should you newborn baby get hungry during the session.

WHAT IF MY NEWBORN DOES NOT SLEEP DURING THEir Newborn Photo Shoot?

Many babies do not fall asleep during their newborn photography session, this is completely normal. Some are awake the entire time but that doesn’t mean we can’t get gorgeous images of your brand new baby wide awake!

HOW DO I BOOK A maternity and newborn Photography SESSION WITH YOU?

Once we have connected and I’ve had a chance to discuss all the details and have answered any questions you may have, a booking contract containing all your session details as well as my studio policies will be sent to review and sign electronically. I do also require that the creative fee be paid to hold and confirm your chosen newborn session date & time. The creative fee can be paid via credit card or E-Transfer. The creative fee is non-refundable but can be moved to an alternate session date & time should you need to reschedule. Once the booking contract & creative fee have been received, you are officially booked and we can start planning and preparing for your upcoming newborn and maternity portrait session!

WHEN WILL WE GET TO SEE THE IMAGES FROM OUR photo shoot?

At the end of your photography session, we will schedule you to come back to the studio in about 10 days time so that you can view the images from your session and make some decisions as to which images you would like to purchase. You will also have the opportunity to see and touch all of the incredible products we offer.

Can I purchase digiTal files from my session?

All of my image collections include the images you decide to purchase in both print and digital format, so that you have the best of both worlds! A gorgeous collection of printed images to display throughout your home and the digital image copies of those images for sharing online and for archival purposes.
