I like for families to have an opportunity to preview the best images from their session before having to make any final decisions on exactly how many images they would like to purchase. This allows each family the opportunity to select exactly the right combination of images and products based on their specific photography needs.

Perfect for documenting your family at any time of year. A series of naturally posed images will be photographed during our time together creating images that can be produced into final printed artwork for the walls in your home.

Outdoor family sessions are only photographed between the months of April to November. Studio sessions are available year round!

Only purchase the images you love most!

My studio has a wide variety of products to select from. All images ordered through the studio are lightly retouched and printed at a professional lab using the highest quality printers and fine art finishes. Some popular products I carry in studio include larger mounted wall portraits for your home or office, custom portrait boxes filled with a collection of prints if wall space is at a minimum and heirloom portrait albums. HOW LONG DOES A FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION LAST?

Family sessions will typically run up to 90 minutes depending on the age of the children in the family as well as how many family members are attending the portrait session. With younger children, this time provides lots of opportunities for small snack breaks, playing games and allowing your child to warm up to their new environment without feeling pressured. With a larger family group, this time provides Jillian with the opportunity to take photos of your entire family as a whole, in smaller groupings and individual portraits of the children as well!

WHAT IF IT RAINS OR SNOWS THE DAY OF OUR OUTDOOR PHOTO SESSION?

Calgary weather can be very unpredictable. It’s best to wait until 24hrs before to see what the weather is going to be like the day of your session. If rain, heavy winds, snow or temperatures below -10 degrees celsius are in the forecast for the day of your session, Jillian will contact you the morning of the session to confirm whether or not the session will move forward. There is no fee to reschedule to a later date and Jillian will do her best to get you rebooked within a weeks time weather and schedule permitting.

WHEN WILL WE GET TO SEE THE IMAGES FROM OUR family SESSION?

At the end of your session, we will schedule you to come back to the studio in about 10 days time to view and order the images you love most from your session. At this appointment you will also have the opportunity to view, touch and feel the all the incredible products we offer should this be your first time in my studio. At this viewing and ordering appointment we will review the best images from your session and you will have the opportunity to purchase the images you love most. When you purchase an image to be professionally printed through my studio, the matching digital file of that printed image is included. I believe that the professional portraits I create for you deserve to be displayed and shared using only the highest quality of professional products.

Can I purchase digiTal files from my session?

All of my image collections include the images you decide to purchase in both print and digital format, so that you have the best of both worlds! A gorgeous collection of printed images to display throughout your home and the digital image copies of those images for sharing online and for archival purposes.

Can we Include our family pet?

Absolutely! Pets are after all are part of the family! Important to ensure they are groomed, well behaved, and on a leash. It’s also a great idea to bring plenty of treats and a few chew toys, to be safe. Check out my tips for including pets in your family portraits.

How do I book a photography session with you?

Once we have connected and I’ve had a chance to discuss all the details with you and I have answered any additional questions you may have, a booking contract containing all your session details as well as my studio policies will be sent to review and sign electronically. I do also require that the creative fee be paid to hold and confirm your chosen session date & time. The creative fee can be paid via credit card or E-Transfer. The creative fee is non-refundable but can be moved to an alternate session date & time should you need to reschedule. Once the booking contract & creative fee have been received, you are officially booked and we can start planning and preparing for your upcoming photography session!

WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR TO OUR FAMILY PHOTOgraphy SESSION?

Once your session has been booked, we will schedule a time to discuss the style of your session. This will offer a starting point when selecting clothing for your family to ensure what you select is most appropriate for the type of images you are hoping for. The studio will also provide you with a Styling Guide to help offer suggestions of different color combinations that work well along with tips on what to consider when selecting clothing for each family member.

My blog is also a great resource when planning and preparing for your session. I always tell clients that neutral tones in varying shades will always produce classic portraits that will stand the test of time, so they are by far my favourite choice!

WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT ONCE WE ARRIVE AT THE STUDIO?

When you arrive you will be greeted at the door and then shown around the studio so that you are familiar with where everything is. Jillian will review and confirm your backdrop selection that were chosen during your pre-session styling consultation before getting started. The studio is fully stocked with organic snacks, beverages, Nespresso and organic teas should you or your children need a quick snack during the session. There is also a private changing room stocked with all that you might need to freshen up before we get started.
