What to Expect During a Newborn Photography Session
All newborn photography sessions take place at my newborn photography studio located in the SW community of Signal Hill in Calgary, Alberta. During your newborn photo session I will use a variety of newborn props and baby-led poses to capture the beauty of your newborn baby while also ensuring their safety and comfort at all times. Sessions typically last for up to 3 hours and I encourage parents to bring any special heirloom items they might wish to included in their newborn photos. Overall, my goal for every session is to create beautiful and timeless images of your family that you will cherish for a lifetime.
Tips for Preparing for Your Newborn Photography Session
To ensure a successful newborn portrait photo session, there are a few things you can do to prepare ahead of time. First, scheduling to have your newborn photography session take place within the first two weeks of your baby's life will ensure that I can capture this special time when they are the smallest they will ever be. On the day of your newborn session, it's also important that you, your partner and baby have some time to get settled and comfortable in my home studio. I will usually have parents feed baby upon arrival so that your baby is feeling content prior to starting the session. It's also a good idea to bring a change of clothing for you & your partner in case of any accidents, spills or when posing your baby naked should you be wanting images of your newborn baby nude. With over 12 years experience photographing newborns, you can rest assured that I have the experience and expertise to create beautiful and unique images of your newborn baby.
How to Display and Preserve Your Newborn Photos
After your newborn photography session, you will come back to the studio in about 2 weeks time to view the best images from your newborn photography session. Together we will go through the images and select those that are your absolute favourites. I will show you various options for displaying your newborn images throughout your home as my studio does carry a variety of print formats to select from. Whether you decide to order an heirloom photo album with multiple images from your session or a couple large wall art pieces to display on the walls in your home, together we will find the printed products that work best for you and your family. When it comes to preserving your newborn photos it is always important to make sure to store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent fading or damage. All of the images I create for my clients do come in print and digital form so just in case anything happens to the physical printed artwork, you will have a matching digital file should you need it in the future. With professionally printed artwork, you can cherish your newborn photos for many years to come as all of the products I carry in studio have high archival quality and are printed at some of the best print labs in the world.
