What should I expect when I book with Jillian Faulkner Photography?
Style & Concept consulation
My goal is to create a customized experience for each and every client so that your final images are exactly what you are looking for! To better understand your goals for the session it's important for me to speak with you about what your vision for the session is so that your final images are true to you.
Through our pre-session consultation we will discuss location options, the concept and style of the session, talk about wardrobe and styling to ensure we are capturing you as your authentic self as well as what you are hoping to do with the final images. Are you wanting wall art for a particular wall in your home or perhaps a keepsake album for your coffee table? Your responses will help me get to know you better and ensure that I can plan a session that is tailored just for you.
The Session - Studio & on location
The session is meant to be joyful, engaging and fun! The majority of my portrait sessions do take place in my home studio located in South West Calgary. I work with studio lighting and have various backdrops and simple props for clients to choose from. The studio is spacious with a seating area for families including a small area equipped with safe toys to keep younger siblings entertained. There is a separate changing room for outfit changes or for mothers needing to feed their newborns in-between poses. This room is fully stocked with hair products, bottled water, diapers, wipes and anything else you might need for your session.
For those warmer months, we can head outside or to a location of your choosing. If you have your heart set on a particular location because it has meaning to you, let's head there! If not, I am happy to recommend various locations around the city to capture images that are perfect for you and your family if being in studio is not for you.
Viewing & Ordering Appointment
This is the exciting moment when you get to view the images from your session! This appointment is typically booked the day of your session and takes place approximately 2 weeks from your session date. This appointment can happen in the studio or I can come to you, I value your time and recognize that sometimes packing up the little ones to come to a viewing appointment can be a struggle.
It's important for family sessions that both parents set the time aside to view the images as these prints will be displayed in your home for years to come so I want everyone involved to have input on the final images selected to be printed for your home. From here we will review your images together through physical and digital displays and I will help you sort through the photos to make final decisions on what will look best within your home. I offer both A La Carte products as well as Custom Collections to meet every clients needs.
Delivery of the final product
About 3-4 weeks later, your prints will be ready for pick up. I will call to let you know and make arrangements for you to take home your beautiful portraits. Now you can sit back and enjoy the images from your session for years to come!
It is not uncommon for my clients to visit me year after year because their children grow and change so quickly but also because they value visual documentation through professional photographic prints. I will always do my best to create images that co-ordinate with past sessions so that you can build onto what we’ve already created but still keep things fresh and evolving like your family year after year.
